Red Carpet Beauty Essentials

The Tig Archives 02 / 20 / 2015

After a whirlwind of New York Fashion Week with my right hand man, make-up guru, Daniel Martin, I learned a few more tips to keep my face looking camera ready when off-duty or on the red carpet. Rest assured this Sunday his tips will come into play to keep some of Hollywood’s finest faces looking (and staying) flawless as they go from the step and repeat, to the award ceremony, to a long night of celebrating followed by requisite late night feasting at In-N-Out. The maquillage has to last – and the same can be said for a special work event or when you find yourself dancing the night away at a friend’s wedding. Here are the essentials from a man who is absolutely essential in my life. Thanks, Daniel!

FROM DANIEL:

“With awards season finally winding down and the Oscars right around the corner, I found it fitting to share my top products for the red carpet. Battling long hours of wear to sweat-proof makeup, these products and tips will help for any special occasion!”

  1. K-Palette Zero Kuma Control Concealer
I discovered this product on a trip out to LA for the Emmy’s in Little Tokyo. The packaging is very young for my taste, but what’s inside is total luxury! Plus, there are three different shade types to correct, conceal and brighten challenging areas on the face.
  2. Dior Diorskin Star Foundation
Everyone knows I’m a diehard fan of Kohgendo HD foundation, but I’ve finally found its competition! The shade range is amazing and its demi-matte texture lasts for hours. Great for combination to oily skin. If your skin is more on the dry side, add a single drop of facial oil into your application. And the best part: in photos, your skin will look radiant in all the right places without appearing shiny.
  3. Make Up For Ever Aqua Brow Eyebrow Corrector
This gel formula fills in sparse brows and dries down to a smudge-proof finish. My tip: use short feather strokes to get the job done. This formula also dries fairly quickly, so keep in mind that clean up can be a challenge if you mess up.
  4. Nyx Cosmetics High Definition Blush in Taupe
The perfect contour color for fair to medium skin—not too warm and not too cool. Stock up on this best selling shade because it always sells out.
  5. Velour Lashes Whispie Me Away
I have to admit, I was never really into mink lashes until I found these. This brand in particular has a great selection that really offers the best fit and style for your eye shape. The Whispie Me Away lashes are my favorite! They add medium volume, so they have a much more realistic look as opposed to an overdone one, and they sit comfortablly for hours on the lash line.
  6. Dior Rouge Baume Lipstick in Lys Rouge
Red lipstick has turned into the new lip balm. Women are wearing it effortlessly and proudly, and this new Dior shade is a must. It’s the most flattering blueish red for any skin tone and the texture is incredible. The rouge has a balm finish but with a punch of saturated color. If you want more payoff and depth, fill in the lip with a lip liner first before you apply your lipstick.
  7. Japonesque Makeup Setting Spray
Finally there’s a makeup setting spray that’s aerosol, easy to use and doesn’t make your foundation dark after a couple of hours of wear!
