Williamsburg, Brooklyn is one of those gems that offers practically everything you can find in a bustling metropolis like New York City, but with a charm and attitude that is uniquely its own. Located just across the river from Manhattan’s Lower East Side, this neighborhood has quickly become a destination in and of itself for artists and creatives to live, work, and play. Grab your leather boots and a beanie; today we’re taking you to some of our favorite spots around town that make Williamsburg a must-visit!
Eat
Delaware and Hudson – This restaurant is part tavern, part Michelin starred restaurant (yes, you read that right). Boasting some of the finest food being served up in Brooklyn, this is a great spot for that special night out or just a casual meet-up with friends. Pick your side; you’ll always leave full and happy.
Llama Inn – The only thing you’ll love more than the bright decor and adorable ambiance of this special Peruvian restaurant is their absolutely delectable fare. From brunch to dinner, this place serves up American classics along with truly unique South American dishes that will make your taste buds jump for joy. Try something new, and check out the Llama Inn (if only for the name, right?).
Spritzenhaus – This fan-favorite biergarten toes the Greenpoint neighborhood at Williamsburg’s northern border, but it is definitely worth the walk through McCarren Park to partake in their seemingly endless beer list and indulgent upscale pub fare. Bring the whole crew and sit on one of their long wooden tables and you’ll start to feel more German by the minute. Weekdays are your best bet to avoid the common weekend craziness.
Smorgasburg – If you haven’t noticed the Instagram pictures of ramen noodle burgers and truffle fries, you need to pull up a seat. Called the “Woodstock of eating” by The New York Times, this weekly food festival is a must-see (and once you’re there, you’ll feel like everything is a must-eat). Act fast, though – this Sunday is the final one of the season!
Stay
Condor Hotel – This is the premier boutique hotel in Williamsburg that will allow you to enjoy the hip Brooklyn vibe without having to sacrifice all your creature comforts. With everything from basic rooms up to full suites with kitchens to boot, this spot can serve as your well-appointed launching pad into the Williamsburg scene.
McCarren Hotel & Pool – Besides the high quality rooms and awesome location right next to the park, this hotel is known for it’s rooftop bar. There’s nothing quite like the view of Manhattan from across the East River. If nothing else, make sure to come here for an early evening cocktail and watch the city lights come to life.
Wythe Hotel – Located in a converted warehouse, no other hotel will give you that same industrial chic vibe for which Williamsburg is known. Boasting amazing views of New York from giant windows, this is a great spot for you to get the authentic Brooklyn luxury experience.
Shop
Mini Mall – This small collection of shops is Brooklyn’s answer to Chelsea Market. Come here for small gifts, jewelry, and printed goods to make your trip just that more memorable.
Goorin Brothers Hat Shop – This shop is the best place to pick up that everyday fall hat you want to wear around town while sipping your cappuccino. With a huge selection and friendly staff, your biggest problem here will be figuring our how you can walk out with only one!
L Train Vintage – Named after the now famed subway that is the spine of the Williamsburg neighborhood, L Train Vintage is that rare vintage shop that is also a sure thing for you to find something you love. Along with the basic plaids, denim, and leather, there’s always a hidden treasure here that you can count on digging up.
Frolic
Brooklyn Bowl – It’s not everyday you ask your friends to go out bowling in New York City. But this unique bowling alley and bar sets the stage for an irresistible night of fun. Come try something a little different. (Just make sure to not spill your drink with your bowling shoes on!)
The City Reliquary Museum – This museum offers a history of New York City unlike any of its larger counterparts. Come here for an intimate and personal experience of old city relics and stories. This museum makes putting such a huge and evolving city into perspective a real treat.
Nitehawk Cinema – This movie theater plays tons of indie films, all with a full restaurant menu served right to your seat. Get here a little early to partake in their cocktail menu before your feature starts. It’s a perfect easy date night.
Music Hall of Williamsburg – As one of the biggest music venues in the neighborhood, this theater brings in some of the best rock bands from around the world. Check out their lineup to see one of your favorites, or take a chance with a new band you haven’t heard of yet. It will make you feel very “Williamsburg!”
