Beauty by Daniel: Transitional Makeup

The Tig Archives 11 / 14 / 2014

My beloved Daniel Martin – the man who dolls me up like no other, and paints the faces of everyone from Jessica Alba to Emmy Rossum. With over 14 years of experience in both artistry and product development, his versatility and understanding of makeup has afforded him a solid and diverse body of work; he consults for such brands as Lancome, Aveda and Tatcha to editorial features in Vogue, W and Interview magazines – and now The TIG. I am so pleased to introduce my dear friend, makeup artist Daniel Martin, as TIG contributor in his monthly column: Beauty by Daniel. Take it away, my love:

“As we transition into cooler temperatures, its also time to transition what we put on our face. I’ve selected my favorite new products that are circulating in my makeup kit that would make great additions into yours this season…”

  1. Dior Diorskin Star Foundation
  2. This foundation has a beautiful radiant finish, not too matte and not too dewy. One thing I learned is that because of the formula, it needs to be spread rather than stippled or dabbed on with a brush. Moving the foundation maximizes the coverage you’ll achieve with it. For someone who needs a bit more coverage and hydration in cooler weather, this is a great option!

  3. Urban Decay Naked Skin Liquid Makeup
  4. For those folks who want a paraben free foundation option, this product is for you! Build-able coverage leaving your skin glowy and imperfections blurred. I love this foundation for combination to oily skin types because it feels light, comfortable wear for hours and photographs beautifully. Airbrushed skin without the airbrush application.

  5. Darphin Vitalskin Replumping Energic Emulsion
  6. This moisturizer adds a ton of hydration without the feeling of it. I’m not big on thick moisturizers but this one adds the perfect balance of moisture while giving the skin “lift” so-to-speak. Like going to the spa and getting a really good facial without the awful extractions! Hydrated toned skin with a radiant healthy finish!

  7. Dr. Hauschka Eye Balm
  8. This eye cream isn’t going to reverse fine lines or wrinkles but it does nourish that skin with emollients of jojoba oil and coca butter. Great for dehydrated skin around the eyes. Use this for the perfect highlighter too on top of the cheek bones and brow bone.

  9. By Terry Baume de Rose Nutri-Couleur in Rosy Babe
  10. Terry’s signature Rose lip Balm now comes in 4 different shades! The Rosy Babe color is the perfect natural pink on any skin tone. I also love adding this on the cheeks for that flush of color without an over barring commitment.

  11. Chanel Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Illusoire
  12. First of all, who doesn’t love to see double CC’s in their makeup kit- so chic! This color in particular I love to use all over the lid with just my finger! Their cream formula is best used with a synthetic brush or your plain finger. Layer for more intense payoff!

  13. Cle de Peau Eye Color Quad in Baby Universe
  14. I’m obsessed with this beautiful beige quad. Four shades of beige from a cooler matte tone to a shimmery warm beige. I can use this palette on pretty much any skin tone and the color payoff is incredible. This palette pairs really well with a deep berry stain on the mouth to even a matte red orange lipstick!
