My Mission with UN Women

The Tig Archives 08 / 06 / 2015

It’s been close to one year since UN Women reached out to me after I wrote candidly about my musings on women’s independence, here on The Tig. Since then I have traveled to DC, shadowed at the UN Headquarters in New York, given a speech for International Women’s Day that left my heart palpitating, and traveled to Rwanda as a part of my learning mission to meet with female leaders on the grass roots level, as well as at parliament. And now, we find ourselves launching the first PSA from the organization. As the UN Women Advocate for Political Participation & Leadership, I am proud to be behind a mission that empowers women to make their voices stronger, their influence bolder, and their support of one another unsurpassable. With women at the helm, we not only help the female population, but the population as a whole – men, women, children. We all win. I feel this so deeply, and for that reason, I am incredibly proud to present the first ever PSA for UN Women, which I hope will inspire and energize all of us – to roll up our sleeves, and to be the change we wish to see in the world. Please spread the word, and lead like a woman.
